PITTSBURG — From hospital specialty services to attorneys, Healthcare Resource Connection is working toward creating a directory of health services in southeast Kansas, southwest Missouri and northeast Oklahoma.
For the past year since its inception, Healthcare Resource Connection Brand has worked to create a network for healthcare businesses and their clients.
“We primarily work with healthcare professionals that are trying to grow their businesses by sharing resources across state lines,” Co-Founder and Facilitator of Healthcare Resource Connection Kelsey Ramsey said. “We are trying to learn about other business are in the area and, of course, if we need to help families find resources across states lines, to be more knowledgeable.”
On Tuesday, the organization focused on southeast Kansas and Joplin service providers during an event at Memorial Auditorium. Funeral homes, attorneys, hospice care, long term care communities and special care hospitals attended.
“As a whole, we are working as professionals to create a directory of services across all three states, we will put those directories out to those communities,” Ramsey said. “When people are visiting those hospitals to get more specialized services, those social workers will have a directory of what is available here in the tri-state area.
“When they send people home, they will be knowledgeable of healthcare systems we have here.”
Although the organization is mainly directed toward healthcare professionals, it offers guidance for people in the community.
“We want to spread the word with medical professionals of course, but we want people to know that if they are having trouble navigating their healthcare and they don’t understand what their options are, or they don’t understand what plans they might qualify for, they can reach out to our group and we can help navigate that,” Ramsey said.
