PITTSBURG — Big outings from Donovan Franklin and Grant Lozoya helped Pitt State Men’s Basketball survive a cold day from deep to defeat Arkansas-Fort Smith 79-71 on Saturday.

Pitt State shot only 42 percent from the field, 16 percent behind the 3-point arc, but Franklin’s 26 and Lozoya’s 25 helped negate the cold shooting.

The Gorillas also got a boost in the paint. A.J Walker grabbed 11 rebounds, and Trenton Clayton grabbed five boards and four blocks to go along with 13 points.

Seth Hawley led Arkansas-Fort Smith with 24 points. The Lions made 10 more threes than the Gorillas, but were outscored in the paint 34-16. Pitt State scored 25 points off of turnovers.
