PITTSBURG — Former Pittsburg High School standout and Kansas State starting halfback Alex Barnes has declared for the NFL draft.
“I am officially declaring for the 2019 NFL Draft,” Barnes said in a statement released on Twitter. “I’ll do my best to represent you (K-State fans), my family.”
Barnes rushed for nearly 2,000 yards, along with 28 touchdowns, in his senior campaign for the Purple Dragons.
Barnes has been one of the top halfbacks in the Big-12 the past two years, rushing for 819 yards and seven touchdowns last season, before exploding this year with 1,355 yards and 12 touchdowns on 256 carries.
New head coach Chris Klieman will be on the prowl to replace the talented Barnes.
