FRONTENAC — The Frontenac Raiders basketball teams earned their first sweep of the season, beginning with the girls varsity team stopping Prairie View 54-27.

Senior Madison Davis led the charge early, reeling off nine first quarter points. Junior guard

Frontenac dominated the opening two quarters and took a 33-9 lead into halftime.

Karma Fields 11 first half buckets, and her and-1 finish with five minutes to go in the third frame pushed the score to 38-11.

Prairie View struggled to gain traction against the Raiders defense, which led to multiple turnovers and easy fast break points for Frontenac.

The Frontenac boys’ varsity team didn’t start out as hot as the Lady Raiders, but ultimately grabbed a 60-51 win.

Both Frontenac and Prairie View went through a long scoring drought late in the quarter.

Frontenac took a slim 11-6 lead into the second, and expanded it to 35-25 at halftime.

Prairie View came into the matchup known as a 3-pointing shooting team, and the threes were not falling for them in the first half, with the Raiders playing strong defense.

The game went much of the same way in the second half, with Prairie View struggling to score on offense.

Hayden Pyle pacing the Raiders throughout, and finished with 17 points. Jake Beckmann added in 14 and Cooper Cleland chipped in 12.
